First the processing chain and challenges are presented. This is followed by an introduction to supervised image classification, and how to deal with prior knowledge and invariances as well as contextual information. Next, it covers the retrieval of biophysical parameters. It gives some definitions, schemes and approaches, followed by details of physical, statistical, and hybrid approaches. It concludes with a bibliography and links to source code.
