The concept of Lidar is introduced first, followed by an analysis of optical and technological considerations. Next, classification of the different kinds of Lidar is presented. Thsi is followed by details for some specific forms of Lidar, including: Elastic-Backscatter Lidar, Raman Lidar, Wind Lidar, and the Differential Absorption Lidar (DIAL).
