Aerosol LIDAR's for estimating atmospheric structure fall into three categories: Elastic-backscatter lidar, Elastic-backscatter plus Raman lidar, and high spectral resolution lidar (HSRL). First, an overview of how to estimate aerosol optical properties will be given. This is followed by the details of how to then estimate aerosol microphysical properties, and then aerosol structural properties. Lastly, we provide a variety of examples for each.
