The cryosphere refers to the frozen areas of the Earth. Glaciers stabilize the global environment and our ability to monitor changes in them is important to understanding global climate. Snow melt in the spring is an important source of water for many areas on the Earth. We can sense the location and depth of snow worldwide and how this changes over time.
